About DCAARPR
The DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (DCAARPR) is a mass defense organization committed to uniting all various strands of the peoples' movements and mounting an organized fightback against racist, political repression. To accomplish this, we fight for and demand Community Control of the Police - that is, a democratization of public safety, that people suffering under racist, political repression control who polices them, and an end to the tyranny of racist, unaccountable police. Further, we participate in and organize around the struggle to free all political prisoners, victims of torture, and the wrongfully convicted.
The DC Alliance is the Washington, DC Branch of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression. The National Alliance is a mass defense organization that defends the rights of Black people and all oppressed peoples to unite, organize, and fight for freedom, justice, and equality. Founded in 1973 in Chicago, Illinois, the National Alliance grew out of the struggle to free Angela Davis from a racist frame-up on murder charges surrounding the abortive attempt by Jonathan Jackson to free his brother, George Jackson, from prison in 1970.
